Change Is Coming…

“Change is Coming in 2021!” That is the exciting news the Sheraton Gateway Hotel shared with us on our first call with them back in January.

The Sheraton Gateway Hotel, connected to Toronto Pearson Airport, is currently undergoing a full hotel and lobby renovation. In order to remain open for business, the hotel has installed hoarding to conceal the construction and let’s be honest, hoarding is not pretty! This is a fact our client identified early on in the project and that is why she called us to help.

Request: How can we turn a blank hoarding wall into a captivating piece of art that announces our changes?

We had to hunt down the right artist for this project - someone who would understand the vision and be able to translate it well into a piece of art. It is easy to assume that any talented painter could have completed this project but a trained huntress knows that every artist has their own signature style and it is our job to match the right style to the particular job. After an intense hunt, we commissioned the very talented Toronto painter, Leslie, to create a unique mural for the hoarding. Leslie took the hotel’s digital renderings and gave them life through her artistic brush strokes. 

Leslie designed a 5’ x 9’ hand painted mural that captured the much-anticipated changes coming to the hotel in 2021. The mural not only transformed the hoarding, but it allows guests to re-imagine what the property will look like after renovations. Renovations are to be completed by July 2021! (We can’t wait to see them).

We absolutely loved working with Leslie as well - the original piece she installed had a white background, but she was just not happy with it, so she requested to go back to the hotel and paint it black. Adding black to the piece made it pop off the wall and made the artwork feel complete. We love working with talent that goes the extra mile to deliver perfection.

The completed mural is dynamic, bold and encompassing of the hotel’s impressive changes. They will forever have a beautiful piece to commemorate their growth. It easily captures guests’ attention upon entry. As you approach the mural, you can see Leslie’s attention to fine details. It is the perfect sneak peek into the future of the Sheraton Gateway Hotel’s exciting changes! We can’t wait to see their changes later this year.
