Filipino Musical Duo
Lounge beat-tribal duo DATU fuses traditional Filipino music with modern sounds, stories, gongs, movement and even rap. DATU hones their cultural identity by merging their roots in the Philippines with their lives in Canada. They create a unique experience that is both auditory and visual. An all female dance group performs with them. They tell stories with movement to the the unparalleled sounds.
Bollywood, a play on Hollywood is the traditional Hindi Cinema out of India. Gaining it’s homage name as it now makes up the largest film industry in the world! The bright, colourful and energetic dances to Hindi dance music that is seen in these films, has caused a sensation around the world.
Our group of Bollywood dancers definitely brings the flavour! They are notably, Toronto’s top Bollywood dance group, especially after making it to the finals on ‘Canada’s Got Talent’. This group embraces the exciting culture and is sure to dazzle every last guest at your event!
Indigenous Musical Duo
A captivating husband and wife duo. Together they combine their individually accomplished and unique singing and song writing abilities. Chelsey June, an Algonquin Cree Métis woman from Ottawa and Jaaji, an Inuk Mohawk man from Nunavik and Kahnawake. Despite very different backgrounds, they found a common musical language. Together they take the audience on a musical journey across Canada and the Arctic, they echo the voices of their ancestors and depict life on the land as they sing songs in English, French and Inuktitut. They leave audiences fascinated and intrigued.
Martial Arts and Lion Dance Performance
This is a team of six high performance martial arts athletes who perform a ‘Wushu performance’. Although, Wushu is traditionally a full contact martial arts sport from China. They also regularly compete on behalf of Wushu Canada and the Canadian National Team. They have adapted their style to create a stunning show.
This group uses traditional Wushu styles, while also incorporating a traditional lion dance. Together these create an exciting and captivating performance. After performing on ‘Canadas’s Got Talent’ they have become Canada’s favourite lion dance group, gracing stages with their intricate movements and theatrics.
Shweta is a highly accomplished Indo-Canadian singer and performer.Zee TV Canada crowned her ‘South Asian of the Year‘. As an experienced artist, she has headlined events around the world, including at ‘The International Center’ for an audience of 10,000 alongside Bollywood singer, Kanika Kapoor.
She also performed the National Anthems of both India and Canada for Indian PM Narendra Modi and Canadian PM Stephen Harper. Most notably, she is the youngest South Asian vocalist to have ever performed at the esteemed Carnegie Hall in New York.
Traditional Mexican Bands
This Toronto-based Mariachi Band is a unique multicultural phenomenon of professional, talented and enthusiastic musicians from very diverse ethnic backgrounds. Sitar & Tabla Musical Duo
Christopher is a sitar player and Hindi vocalist based out of Toronto. Having trained in India under sitar guru Partha Chatterjee, he is an expert at his craft. Kiran plays the Tabla. He is currently a student of York University, his plans are to complete his PhD in Indian Classical Music. Kiran is presently a disciple of the great tabla legend Ustad Zakir Hussain. He receives extensive and personal training in the Punjab school of tabla playing. Together Christopher and Kiran take their listeners on a cultural journey that is not soon forgotten.
